SPAR GROUP – a chain of 400 stores in 5 years

SPAR GROUP – granted an exclusive SPAR license in Poland – plans to build a chain of 400 stores in the next 5 years in Poland. The basis for building the Spar retail chain in Poland will be the Piotr i Paweł chain, which stores will be rebranded and will change their logo to SPAR. The chain will also develop thanks to new contracts with independent retailers. The SPAR GROUP's competitive market advantages are international experience, excellent supply logistics as well as voluntary and flexible cooperation with partners. The company also plans to launch a new distribution center in Poland.

SPAR GROUP opened a new shop in Warsaw. Customers of Blue City shopping centre are now able to shop in a premise with a sales area of around 2.500 m². The EUROSPAR store is the largest grocery store in the entire mall. Earlier in this location there was a shop of the Piotr i Paweł chain, which became part of the SPAR GROUP.

SPAR GROUP is strongly involved in the Polish retail market. Important for us are the opportunities to work with a large number of independent retailers – who are often looking for a large, reliable and stable partner. High consumption levels in Poland are a chance for us – with the Polish consumer being conscious, expecting high-quality products and shopping in well-stocked stores. Our competitive market advantages are the international chain of stores and experience – we can provide retailers with products that are not available in other outlets. We have extensive experience in efficient and effective supply logistics – which means excellent and timely stocking of stores. For retailers, this is an asset that can significantly affect their turnover and increase the customer base” – said Tomasz Syller, Managing Director, Member of the Board of WASZ SKLEP SPAR.

In October, SPAR GROUP finalized the agreement on the transfer of the ownership of holdings in Grupa Piotr i Paweł sp. z o.o. Thus, the assumptions of the investment plan and the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection’s decision regarding the chain’s concentration were implemented. Piotr i Paweł stores will systematically change their logo to SPAR and join an international holding with many years of experience in the retail sector in Europe and the rest of the world.

SPAR GROUP – as an investor – supports the Piotr i Paweł Group in repayment of liabilities, contractual negotiations and development. Contracts with almost 300 suppliers have been signed or renewed so far. As planned, over 6,500 products from nearly 500 suppliers are already available in the logistics system and by the end of the year the number of products will increase to 7,500.

SPAR GROUP will launch a modern retail distribution center in Poland. Workshops with a logistics team and analysis of potential locations are already underway. The new logistics center will complement and extend the logistics capabilities resulting from the existing infrastructure of the Piotr i Paweł Group – including two warehouse centers located near Poznań and Warsaw.
